Currently this road is 30 miles an hour with no crossing for children going to school. Everyday young children try to cross the road to get to school with cars driving at crazy speed down Woburn Road. We need to have a zebra crossing here to allow children to safely go to school.

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the possibility of installing a controlled pedestrian crossing near Hockliffe Lower School, and apologies for the length of time it has taken to respond in full. Having reviewed the location and relevant data, please see our response below:
We understand your concerns and appreciate your interest in improving safety for students accessing the school. Our team has reviewed the location and, while we recognise that there is no footway across the school frontage and that students must cross the road to reach the site, we must also consider a range of factors when determining where interventions are most needed.
As a local authority, we take a data-led approach to prioritising road safety improvements. This means we focus our resources on locations where there is a demonstrated pattern of Personal Injury Collisions (PICs), particularly where these form identifiable clusters. At present, there is no recorded accident history at this location, and as such, it does not meet the criteria for prioritisation under our current programme. Unfortunately, we do have locations across our network where Personal Injury Collisions have been taking place, so these locations must remain our priority in the immediate term.
Additionally, our officers have raised concerns that a controlled crossing at this locationgiven its limited use outside of school start and finish timescould present safety risks if drivers become unaccustomed to its operation during quieter periods. Implementing a zebra crossing which is used infrequently can lead to driver complacency (failing to stop at the crossing when pedestrians are present).
While there are no current plans to implement changes at this site, we will continue to monitor the area and review any new data that may emerge. We have additionally flagged the concerns in the location to our Road Safety Team, who work closely with schools across the authority on the education aspects of road safety, to see if theres any assistance they may be able to provide.
We are also exploring other ways to support safer journeys to school, including non-infrastructure measures and community-led initiatives.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your concerns.
