Clophill roundabout on the A6

Reported via mobile in the Pavement and Cycle path category anonymously at 10:04, Tue 12 November 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 414359.

Lorry’s that are overloaded are going to fast around the roundabout and spilling their loads on the road and path. This part of the roundabout needs a crash barrier to protect pedestrians as it is unsafe. The spilled rubble from photo is to do with Thomas Brothers quarry. Maybe reduce speed limit on approach to roundabout to 20mph with cameras.

  • Thank you for contacting us with information relating to a Highways issue. Requests for speed limit changes/traffic calming will be reviewed and prioritised accordingly against all other requests across the county. We do not alter speed limits based on the perception of an issue. Requests will be reviewed based on a number of factors including collision history and independent traffic volume and speed counts over a 7 day, 24 hour period, along with meeting suitability with DfT guidance and prioritised accordingly. Should the request meet all the criteria it may be added to the Capital Works Programme for future years.
