Approaching junction of Old Linslade Road and Plantation Road from Heath & Reach

Reported via desktop in the Signs category anonymously at 16:35, Mon 9 December 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 415544.

Both signs advising 'Low Bridge' and 'Weight Limit; are dirty to the extent that they cannot be clearly seen. As a result overheight vehicles are continuing along Old Linslade Road until they reach the low bridge. The drivers then reverse back into the access to St Mary's Church and Old Linslade Cemetery and in the course of turning round reverse across the grass verge and then hit the church wall causing damage. By virtue of the distance the wall is from the road and the damage to the surrounding verge not only are these over height but also over weight vehicles who have crossed the weight limit canal bridge. This is at least the second time in 9 months that the wall and the Town Council gates and grass area at the cemetery entrance have been seriously damaged. The signage ideally needs to be improved and at least cleaned and tree branches cut back so it can be seen clearly.
