Northwood End Road past The Greyhound Pub

Reported via mobile in the Road Surface category anonymously at 16:09, Fri 13 December 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 415787.

This is my 3rd attempt at notifying you of the state of the road, I get an email saying you have recieved my notification but nothing is done, I know the parish council have past complaints about this road to our local councillor. The road is now so bad in parts only one vehicle can pass, parts of the road flood which also make it only possibe for one vehicle to pass. Vehicles are having to mount the verge to pass and this leaves mud spread across both sides. There is no road signage to show that the road is too narrow for 2 vehicles in places and this year alone we have had a bus stuck on the road as it had to go down the verge and I have had my wing mirror damaged twice. You give approval for new houses to be built which will increase the traffic but still nothing is done about the state of the road. Please update me with the current status within the council on this road and what plans there are to improve it and when this is planned to take place

  • Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
We are having to prioritise repairs for defects that pose higher risks in accordance with our Network Management Maintenance Plan assessment criteria, the details of which can be found online http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx

After inspecting the reported issue, our engineers have determined that this doesn't currently feature as a priority for repair as the damage isnt bad enough. 278 works by the developer are due in the Spring which will remedy some of these defects.
Rest assured, we'll continue to monitor the defect during future inspections. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your report.

    Many thanks,
    Central Bedfordshire Council Highways
