Drain and pavement outside 160 London road

Reported via desktop in the Pavement and Cycle path category anonymously at 17:45, Wednesday 8 January 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 416748.

The pavement/driveway has sunk due to excavations for watermain works and possible tree root damage causing water from the road to run over the path and into my driveway at times of heavy rain due to the road drain not coping with heavy rainfall, probably due to tree roots. I have installed a kerb across the drive to lessen flooding of my property but this is not effective at times of heavy rainfall when the road drain is full. I understand resurfacing of the road is planned which may make the problem worse if the pavement and drainage problem is not rectified. This problem has been reported before over several years including to council staff surveying the road prior to pothole repairs resulting in no action apart from partial cleaning of the drain and apparently no inspections at times of heavy rain when the problem is obvious. If I were to discharge rain water from my property into the highway I would surely breaking the rules, so are you not breaking similar regulations by discharging rainwater from the road into my drive?
