Junction of Richard Street and Lovers Walk 1 way sign has been removed

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 417248.

For some reason the 1 way sign has been removed and I noticed vehicles driving the wrong way in a 1 way street

  • Resident called regarding this report as the situation is very dangerous as cars are going on the one way street but coming from 2 way.

    This presents a hazard and can cause accidents.

    Resident advised that the signs were removed by the team that had one the road works.

  • I note that no progress has been made in replacing the 2 one way signs which were removed some weeks ago. As previously advised this causes a dangerous situation as cars are now using the road for 2 way traffic.

  • Thank you for your Highways report.
    An order has now been raised to rectify the identified issue and this will now be added to our programme of works. We are, unfortunately, unable to provide you with a timescale for this work to be completed, however, all repairs are prioritised using an assessment matrix in line with our Network Maintenance Management Plan (NMMP)

    After inspecting the reported issue, officers have assed the defect and carried out temproary works to make the area safe, and will prioritise a permanent repairs as soon as possible.

    With over 1,400km of road to maintain across Central Bedfordshire, we have to prioritise the work we do as detailed in our Network Maintenance Management Plan (NMMP), which can be viewed on the following page of our website https://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ info/ 55/ transport_roads_and_parking/ 592/ roads_strategies
