Footpath through hexton manor estate

Reported via desktop in the Public Rights of way category anonymously at 06:49, Sun 26 January 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7033299.

This footpath is impassable, both through overgrowth and some tipping of what looks like garden waste. I have read an earlier response, which stated that as this land is 'unregistered' little can be done. I am a lifelong local, and I can safely state that the land this footpath is on belongs to Hexton Manor estate.

Updates

  • Thank you for your comments. We are aware of this issue. We use the H M land registry to identify who owns land - https://www.gov.uk/ government/ organisations/ land-registry - this is a publicly available resource where anyone can find out who owns land for a small fee. Public Footpath no. 60 is unregistered white land according the land registry. Hexton Manor estate along with other landowners own other land in this area. We propose to contact all landowners to discuss these paths and hopefully work with them to arrange a volunteer task with the Ramblers volunteer group and the local Shillington footpaths volunteer group to clear the path sometime in March.
