Blocked drains
Reported via iOS in the Drains/Ditches Blocked category anonymously at 13:32, Sun 26 January 2025
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 417628.
All the drains on the Bedford Road between High Street and The Baulk are blocked. These seems to be blocked with either silt or tarmac, but when it rains the road floods and doesn’t drain away. This needs clearing to prevent flooding. This has been repeatedly report but not dealt with.

Thank you for contacting us with information relating to a Highways issue. We plan to inspect the site during the next instance of significant rainfall (that takes place during working hours) and decide on the best course of action.

I am not sure why you need to wait until the next downpour of rain to inspect the drain covers.
Any engineer who attends to inspect the drains will see that they are physically blocked. The bits which are blocked are the grills on the road surface which are completely blocked with tarmac? All it needs is someone to scrape out the tarmac to open the grills to allow the water to drain away? It would seem this was reported months ago but still not resolved.
