Cycle path between Henlow & Arlesey station

Reported via iOS in the Pavement and Cycle path category by Steven Dixon at 08:20, Saturday 1 February 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 418046.

Following the much overdue cutting back of the vegetation that overhung the cycle path here, nothing has been been done to clear back to the fence line the incursion on the cycleway by the grass and dirt. Accordingly, while I don’t have to worry about losing an eye from an altercation with a stray bramble, you can’t pass an oncoming bike or person without someone having to step in to the dirt. When will this be cleared, so as to allow the purpose of the cycle path to be useable?

  • Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
We already have maintenance work planned in for this area and the issue will be resolved as part of this work. We are, unfortunately, unable to provide you with a timescale for this to be completed, however, all repairs are prioritised using an assessment matrix in line with our Network Maintenance Management Plan (NMMP).

We will continue to monitor all defects to ensure the safety of our residents as part of the NMMP which can be found online - http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx

    Many thanks,
