Dangerous metal railings

Reported via desktop in the Public Rights of way category anonymously at 14:31, Sunday 2 February 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7072833.

A section of open drainage ditch recently dug has a temporary metal railing running along a section of about a 150 metres to prevent walkers falling into the ditch. This is the third time that the fence has fallen into the ditch. The problem is that these railings have very sharp legs which are pointing skyward which could cause a serious injury if a person or animal slipped and fell onto them.

Updates

  • I have spoken to the contractor today and they will re-inspect the temporary fence and deal with any issues. They also assured me that they are ready to start on the wooden post and rail fence that is to be erected to the side of the bridleway. I'll leave this issue open to remind me to check progress.
