Middle of the road opposite entrance to Greenways
Reported via mobile in the Road Surface category anonymously at 13:59, Mon 3 February 2025
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 418199.
Loose manhole cover which moves and makes a lot of noise every time a vehicle drives over it. This was 'fixed' about a year ago but only lasted 2-3 months before it started moving again and now it's worse than ever. The manhole cover needs to be raised so that it is flush with the road surface.

The report on Monday got a very quick response so thank you for that. Unfortunately they've just put a thin layer of tarmac over the top of the manhole cover. The tarmac is already breaking up around the edges (see photo taken same day as it was laid) and the whole thing still moves and makes a noise when anything heavy drives over it! With the amount of traffic using this road the repair will not last very long so the problem still needs fixing properly.

Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
We already have maintenance work planned in for this area and the issue will be resolved as part of this work. We are, unfortunately, unable to provide you with a timescale for this to be completed, however, all repairs are prioritised using an assessment matrix in line with our Network Maintenance Management Plan (NMMP).We will continue to monitor all defects to ensure the safety of our residents as part of the NMMP which can be found online - http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx
