Footpath flooded in the dell of Shillington Bury

Updates

  • Hi. Thank you for your report. We were not aware of this so thank you for reporting it. We will take a look and have a discussion with the landowner.

  • Hi

Sorry, maybe I should have expanded.

It's down to nature, not the landowner.

I don't know the history, but the rumour is Shillington Bury used to have a moat. It would appear it's attempting to restablish itself.

After excessive rain, it has flooded before, but normally dries up fairly quickly. However, this time it's not showing signs of relenting.

I've been in the village 25 years and never known it to last for so long, it's been months and months.

I've alerted you as I image the footpath will either need rerouting to avoid the water or some sort of bridge putting in place.

I hope you can find a successful solution as it's a lovely stroll through there, particulary when you catch sight of the wildlife.

    Regards

  • Thats okay, thanks for the info. I am due to have a look this afternoon. We have drainage colleagues who can advise us so we should be able to also seek their view.
