12 and 14 Church Ave

Reported via desktop in the Trees category anonymously at 12:07, Thu 27 February 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 419733.

We have lived in the property (12 Church Ave) for 17 yrs and the trees are protected as CBC has always maintained them. The trees do need cutting back as during the recent winds branches fell onto the drive and parked vehicles. Please can you advise further. The previous council ref: is 416735.

  • Apologies for the delay - It looks as if we have maintenance records for these trees up to 2017. Having looked deeper into our mapping it does look as if some of the trees along here are within/on the edge of our ownership boundary.

I have scheduled in an inspection of the road to take place over Spring/Summer - any works we identify as necessary will first need to be applied for and approved by our Planning team before they're undertaken.

  • Please can you provide an update. The trees are in full bloom and are dripping sap. Some branches are dead. The trees need cutting back as they are still unsafe.

  • Update on your report:

We have scheduled in an inspection of all the trees next week. Any work we deem necessary will be applied for with the hope of carrying it out over Winter - any work we deem more urgent (if unsafe) can be carried out sooner.

    Many thanks,

  • Update on your report:

We have inspected the trees along Church Avenue today 07/08/25 - We have identified works that we believe are required. This will largely include the lifting of canopies over the road, removal of lower growth, and removal of any dead wood within the canopies. Due to the preservation order on the trees, we will need to consult our Planning team and apply for these works, meaning completion is unlikely to be until Winter. Having inspected today, I didn't see anything on site that caused concern, or suggested that urgent works were required.

    Many thanks,
    Central Bedfordshire Council - Highways
