Alleyway between Townfield road and Elmwood crescent

Reported via desktop in the Trees category anonymously at 09:13, Saturday 15 March 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 420589.

Apologies I didn't realise I could respond to your findings on this site. Trees were reported last year as being across the path way and a council van came with chain saw and cut the tree down and piled up the trunks on the side of the pathway. As the trees have fallen over more and grown so big. I believe that the neighbours have cut the trees down and piled them up against the path. I am not sure if your volunteer has given you pictures of how much this alleyway is so overgrown. I am happy to help move all the tree trunks and clear, but can you provide a truck to put them in. I understand we are at the end of a financial year so is it possible to add this alleyway to the list of jobs from April. I have no idea how a parent manages to walk down here with a pram and child. As it is hard enough to manoeveur into the undergrowth with my dog when people walk the other way.

  • I have walked from Elmwood Crescent to the railway bridge taking 14 photos showing all the piles of cut down tree branches and plants that are piled up next to the path making it an eyesore and unsafe for passing.

  • Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
We already have maintenance work planned in for this area and the issue will be resolved as part of this work. We are, unfortunately, unable to provide you with a timescale for this to be completed, however, all repairs are prioritised using an assessment matrix in line with our Network Maintenance Management Plan (NMMP).

We will continue to monitor all defects to ensure the safety of our residents as part of the NMMP which can be found online - http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx

    Many thanks,
