Whipsnade road opposite lay-by And Westdown Gardens.

Reported via mobile in the Broken Column category anonymously at 07:37, Sun 20 April 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 422105.

Street lamp has been damaged with top half missing. No number as ‘official’ yellow tape around it. Lay-by opposite in darkness along with path. As a woman I feel unsafe as lay-by is next to Downs and wooded area.

  • Broken lamp post on Whipsnade Road opposite lay-by at bottom of The Downs (towards West Street) in Dunstable. Lamp post is just outside Westdown Gardens. I reported several weeks ago but engineers didn’t seem be able to find it. Motorbikes continue to meet in lay-by and drive up and down The Downs every night without any intervention. Attached photos again.

  • Re Council Ref 422105 - reported April 2025. Engineers were unable to locate lamp post? I’ve again attached photos showing the broken lamppost with yellow tape around it which I think the council would have done? Details are: broken lamppost is on WHIPSNADE ROAD opposite the lay-by at the bottom of the Downs. If you continue past the lamppost (if on your right) in approximately 20 metres you come to a roundabout which if you turn right is WEST STREET
