Sign to advise of sharp bend - on A600 - near to private drive for lodge/property

Reported via desktop in the Signs category anonymously at 01:38, Monday 21 April 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 422120.

I reported this months ago and was assured it would be dealt with - but the sign is still obstructed by foliage and it is getting worse, especially now that we are in the spring. The sign is covered with a lot of foliage and is not clearly visible. It is a 'sharp bend' sign and the black and white markings should surely be really clear to warn of the bend - not be obstructed by the hedgerow/foliage growing in front of it. If someone doesn't know the road and the bends in that area it could be dangerous if they can't see the sign. Please can this be investigated.

Updates

  • Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
We already have maintenance work planned in for this area and the issue will be resolved as part of this work. We are, unfortunately, unable to provide you with a timescale for this to be completed, however, all repairs are prioritised using an assessment matrix in line with our Network Maintenance Management Plan (NMMP). We will raise a works order for this and ensure this is dealt with as soon as possible.

We will continue to monitor all defects to ensure the safety of our residents as part of the NMMP which can be found online - http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx

    Many thanks,
    Central Bedfordshire Council Highways
