Outside nos 4 and 5 Lordsmead

Reported via mobile in the Road markings and lining category anonymously at 14:27, Thu 24 April 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 422259.

When we moved here (no 5 Lordsmead) 5 years ago there were 2 parking bays outside no 5

Last time the road was resurfaced one of our neighbours marked the kerb to indicate a third bay which was then marked. The problem is that the current bays which abutt the drive way we share with no 4 are right up against the drop kerbs when they should be at least 1m back.

Today I've noticed the bays have been marked on the kerbs again. I assume the lines are to be repainted possibly following some surface treatment. As you can see from the photos the lines immediately adjacent to the drop kerbs for nos 4 and 5 have NOT been marked on the kerb (shown by green circles) but all the others have (shown by yellow circles) Are you not proposing to remark the bays on each side of the drive - I have no problem with this except people will be likely to park in that location and without a line are more likely to park over the drive which already causes issues.

Therefore could the bays on both sides be resized so that the final bay marking is not right up against our drop kerbs. If this is not possible as the bays would be too short can you provide some indication the the areas should not be parked in - ideally an H bar marking would be good to emphasize the presence of the driveways.

Thanks very much

Trevor Dove
