Bridleway gate on land between Council land and the meadow used to graze sheep(behind Chequers Public House)

The bridleway gate is inappropriate. It is not the most appropriate bridleway gate, does not open fully and the springs are too strong. I had an accident at the weekend whilst passing through the gate on a horse, resulting in a visit to hospital. Please can this situation be recitifed to a more horse rider friendly gate appropriate for a bridleway.

I am so sorry to hear you have suffered an injury. I will try and find time tomorrow to take a look, if not it will be next Thursday as my site visit days are Tuesdays and Thursdays and I am not free next Tuesday. I will then contact the landower as it is their responsibility to ensure gates are safe to use.

I am looking at getting this gate removed completely as it is not needed for livestock. I will update on progress as it happens.

I have gained permission from the landowner to remove this gate altogether. I need to arrange for a contractor to do this. Please accept my apologies, it has taken me a while to find the right person to get permission from, since your report earlier in the year. I will produce a works order to get the gate removed.
