The pavement opposite Britten Road by the cable/BT box is now so overgrown it’s not possible to get past in a wheelchair or with a buggy

  • Thank you for your Highways report.

As this vegetation is privately owned, CBC will need to issue a letter to the landowner to request this is cut back promptly.

    Many thanks,

  • The vegetation has not been cut back and has continued to grow so that you now have to walk on the grass rather than the pavement and around the Virgin Media green box. Obviously it’s not possible to get by with a wheel chair.

  • Unfortunately these shrubs have continued to grow and now cover c75% of the path so you have to go onto the grass which is not going to be very easy as winter sets in.

  • Nothing has happened yet and the hedge has kept growing with the mild weather.

  • Someone has trimmed the laurel but as you can see at the end near the BT Cable box it’s still well over 50% covering the path. I saw a person with a buggy have to go to the left of the BT box and over the muddy grass the other day to get by. The shrubs with all the berries have not been touched. The issue will be compounded as soon as the shrubs start growing again in the Spring.

  • Hello - we have contacted the landowner again. It's possible that they were unaware that this section near to the electrical box was within their ownership. We have requested that this section is also cut back to expose the full width of the path.

    Many thanks

  • Just to let you know the laurel shrubs have not been cut back and you can see wheel chair type tracks in the wet grass as people have to go off the path to avoid the shrubs. Thanks

  • Unfortunately the laurel hedge has not been touched and continues to grow strongly. As the owner is obviously not keen to cut back the hedge I wonder if it’s possible to move the path, I know budgets are very tight but as the spring/summer progresses the path, where it is, will soon disappear.
