Please note there is not a category for traffic calming measures/speed limits.
For decades the residents of this row of cottages have been petitioning for a change of speed limit. There have been fatal RTCs outside these houses, several near misses and 8 resident cats have been killed. Children leave their houses and walk to school on a narrow path next to this road where vehicles fly by at 70mph+. The residents have to pull out of a steep driveway directly onto this road. The speed limit in the centre of the village is 30mph. Around 30m before this row of cottages (which still count as the village), it changes to national speed limit on a long straight stretch. Regularly cars go over 80mph past. Last year a poor man died on his motorbike as a car overtook at excessive speeds, the residents of the cottage witnessed it directly outside their window, luckily the car did not crash into the houses. It is not safe for a residential area with children and a such small effortless change could save so many lives. Please consider extending the 30mph limit until the end of the village, which ends at 71 Cambridge Road, Dunton. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Thank you for contacting us with information relating to a Highways issue. Requests for speed limit changes/traffic calming will be reviewed and prioritised accordingly against all other requests across the county. We do not alter speed limits based on the perception of an issue. Requests will be reviewed based on a number of factors including collision history and independent traffic volume and speed counts over a 7 day, 24 hour period, along with meeting suitability with DfT guidance and prioritised accordingly. Should the request meet all the criteria it may be added to the Capital Works Programme for future years.
