Bedford road near lower Shelton road
Reported via iOS in the Overhanging private property category anonymously at 13:41, Friday 4 July 2025
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 424921.
I’m writing to request clarification on the ownership and maintenance responsibility for a group of trees and shrubs located along the side boundary of my property at:
The vegetation in question sits between my garden fence and the road/pavement. I’ve attached photos and a copy of my title plan for reference.
I’d like to confirm whether this strip of land – and the trees on it – is within my property boundary or forms part of the adopted highway or other council-managed land.
If it is confirmed to be my land, I may consider formally moving the boundary line to include this strip. If, however, it is confirmed to be council-managed land, I’d like to request that maintenance is arranged, as the current height of the trees and shrubs appears to be interfering with overhead communication lines and is becoming increasingly unmanageable.
Please let me know if you need any further information.

Thank you for your Highways report.
Our GIS shows that CBC are only responsible for the width of the footpath. Therefore we believe the vegetation forms part of the property boundary, and would therefore be the responsibility of No.2.
Many thanks,
