At the top of the hill on Tempsford road in Everton

Reported via desktop in the Road markings and lining category anonymously at 16:48, Friday 4 July 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 424931.

The yellow strips on this road are extremely dangerous for cycling. I used my brakes as I started to descend, but the strips are far too prominent and as I was descending, they lifted my wheels off the road surface so that my brakes were not effective. It was impossible to slow the bike and keep control, my bike juddering over each strip. I ended up going faster, not slower, and my bike crossed over the centre of the road. I managed to regain control just before hitting the far curb, and there were, fortunately, no cars coming in the opposite direction. Someone will get into a serious accident on this road! Later that day, I descended along Sharpenhoe Road from Streatley. The yellow strips and warning signs were clear, served their purpose and were completely safe.
