Reported via mobile in the Pavement and Cycle path category anonymously at 19:37, Thursday 17 July 2025
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 425409.
This is a homeowner property and the hedge SIGNIFICANTLY overlaps the pavement. It's impossible for me.to get past on my motorbility scooter, my clothes have snagged on the hedge, I get wet by it.going past, forcing me to go on the verge. The hedge is prickly and needs cutting back from.the public.footpath

Update on your report:
We are currently assessing the matter and further information is currently being collated to assist us. As this is privately owned, CBC will need to issue a letter to the resident to request that the hedge is cut back due to encroachment.
Many thanks,

We will send a follow up letter to the property, giving 14 days for action or contact with CBC, from the date of receipt. If our requests are ignored or the property are unable to carry out work, CBC Can undertake it ourselves.

You sent me a message on 18 August to say you would give them 2 weeks to trim the hedge or.you.wpuld.do it. They still haven't done it and so I am requesting you come along and do it please.
Please confirm this will now be done.
Thank you

Thanks for reporting. We need to send a follow up letter before we can undertake the work ourselves, on the off chance the original letter wasn't received. We will send this today. If no action is taken in another 14 days, we can then undertake the work.
Many thanks

Despite you promising me 3 times you would sort this out and saying you'd write to the home owner this remains exactly the same. I want to put in a formal complaint.

Hello - we have written to the owner, the hedge is trimmed however it still overlaps the path. We have requested again that this is cut back to the boundary or CBC will carry it out.
Any complaint can be logged with our customer services team, who will signpost to the complaints team. Many thanks
