Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 426485.
Please move to who can action:
Southfields Road, The entrance to this large estate has Aspire Housing Association Disability Bungalows to left and right hand side of road - it is an area populated by mainly over 55s who are Vunerable, many with sight and physical impairments - i propose that this area is brought in line with other densely populated housing areas in Shefford and that Highways reduce the current speed limit on this stretch of road from 30mph to 20 mph and to include physical calming measures - for the safety of not only those elderly with disability but also school children and young families who cross and use this busy road on a daily basis, also to safeguard pets who roam and wildlife . I will be asking Bedfordshire Police and CBC to support this proposal.

Thank you for contacting us with information relating to a Highways issue. Requests for speed limit changes/traffic calming will be reviewed and prioritised accordingly against all other requests across the county. We do not alter speed limits based on the perception of an issue. Requests will be reviewed based on a number of factors including collision history and independent traffic volume and speed counts over a 7 day, 24 hour period, along with meeting suitability with DfT guidance and prioritised accordingly. Should the request meet all the criteria it may be added to the Capital Works Programme for future years.
