52°04'49.7"N 0°13'41.4"W just as the road from Dunton to Biggleswade bends to the right by the drainhole

Reported via desktop in the Road Potholes category anonymously at 17:50, Tuesday 19 August 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 426530.

Not a pothole but the road is sinking by the drain grating. Too dangerous to stop and take a photo. It doesn't look much but when a car goes through this depression it tends to affect the steering and thus the safe handling of the car. This worsens with increasing speed. It makes drivers who know it’s there and want to avoid it veer over the centre of the road. For the sake of my car's health if I cannot avoid it I always slow to 20mph or less. Obviously water tends to collect there and due to poor drainage remains. It was repaired last year but is now progressively deepening.

After inspecting the reported issue, our officers have determined that this doesn't currently qualify as a priority for repair. We will continue to monitor the defect during future inspections and carry out works should it meet our intervention levels in future.

With over 1,400km of road to maintain across Central Bedfordshire, we have to prioritise the work we do as detailed in our Network Maintenance Management Plan (NMMP), which can be viewed on the following page of our website https://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ info/ 55/ transport_roads_and_parking/ 592/ roads_strategies
