Subject: Urgent Need for Road Markings and Signage on Porz Avenue, Roundabout, and Lovett Way
My name is Davi Cavicchioli, and I am the Estate and Community Manager at Woodside Industrial Estate. I am writing to bring to your attention serious concerns regarding the current state of road safety on Porz Avenue, the roundabout connecting Porz Avenue and Lovett Way, and Lovett Way itself.
Current Issues:
Lack of Road Markings: These roads, including the roundabout, currently lack clear lane markings, pedestrian crossings, and other visual indicators that help guide drivers safely. The absence of lane demarcations at the roundabout increases the risk of vehicles taking conflicting paths and contributes to potential collisions.
Insufficient Signage: There is a noticeable absence of speed reduction signs, warning signs, or any indication of the approaching roundabout. Drivers unfamiliar with the area may approach at excessive speeds, creating dangerous conditions for both other vehicles and pedestrians.
Historical Incidents: I have been informed that there has previously been a fatality involving a cyclist in this area. Additionally, there have been reports of vehicles, including vans, navigating the roundabout at high speeds, creating a high-risk environment for all road users.
Recommendations: To improve safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, I strongly recommend the following measures be implemented as soon as possible:
Installation of clear road markings on Porz Avenue, the roundabout, and Lovett Way, including lane dividers, arrows, and pedestrian crossings where necessary.
Implementation of advance warning signs and speed reduction signage to alert drivers of the roundabout and potential hazards.
Consideration of traffic-calming measures, such as rumble strips, reflective markers, or raised sections, to reduce vehicle speed.
Conclusion The current lack of road markings and signage on Porz Avenue, Lovett Way, and the roundabout poses a significant safety risk. Implementing the above recommendations is essential to prevent future accidents and safeguard all users of this route.
I am available to meet on site to discuss these recommendations further or provide additional information regarding incidents and traffic patterns.
