Title: Humphrys Road – Lack of Double and Single Yellow Lines with No Restriction Signage (12 September 2025)
Description: Humphrys Road currently has no visible double or single yellow line parking restrictions in place, and there are no time plate signs or Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) entry signs.
This has created serious problems:
Traffic Hazards: Vehicles, including HGVs, park for extended periods, narrowing access for other road users and risking obstruction for emergency services.
Safety Risks: Unregulated parking reduces sightlines at junctions, increases collision risks, and pushes pedestrians into the carriageway when pavements are blocked.
Health Hazards: Drivers have been disposing of excrement on pathways and in residents’ gardens.
Antisocial Behaviour: Prostitution and related activities are being reported, linked to vehicles parked for prolonged periods without restrictions.
Pertinent Legislation:
Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016 (TSRGD 2016) requires enforceable restrictions to be supported by clear markings and signage — none are present here.
Highways Act 1980, Section 41 requires the highway authority to maintain roads in a safe and serviceable condition, including markings and signage.
Request: Please address Humphrys Road as a matter of urgency by reinstating/introducing yellow line restrictions with signage to restore traffic safety, prevent obstruction, and curb antisocial behaviour.

Update on your report:
After inspecting the reported issue, our officers have determined that this doesn't currently qualify as a priority for repair. We will continue to monitor the defect during future inspections and carry out works should it meet our intervention levels in future.
With over 1,400km of road to maintain across Central Bedfordshire, we have to prioritise the work we do as detailed in our Network Maintenance Management Plan (NMMP), which can be viewed on the following page of our website https://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ info/ 55/ transport_roads_and_parking/ 592/ roads_strategies
Many thanks,
