High street and roundabout

Reported via desktop in the Road markings and lining category anonymously at 10:51, Tue 16 September 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 427693.

I would like to know why there are several flags of St George hanging from lamp posts and why they have also been painted on the roundabout at the end of the green. If these are official - why? If not why have they not been removed

Thanks

  • Thank you for your report. We recognise that the Union Jack and St George’s Cross are important symbols of national pride and community spirit. When flown safely and appropriately, they help create and encourage a strong sense of community and togetherness, and are often displayed in support of sporting events, including the current Women’s Rugby World Cup.
Where displays on the highway do not compromise safety, we will be leaving them in place. We do ask that residents refrain from attaching flags or painting markings where they may reduce visibility, distract road users, or otherwise create a hazard.

State changed to: No further action
