A6 between Houghton Conquest turn to deadman’s hill

Reported via mobile in the Road Surface category anonymously at 17:22, Wed 17 December 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 432040.

Hello. My wife regularly uses the A6 between Wixams and Bramingham Park Luton.

For the second year running her car which covers approx 6000 mostly on the aforementioned route has failed its annual MOT due to suspension issues.

The section of the A6 in particular from near the Houghton Conquest turn to Dead Mand Hill is subjected to a large number of pot holes some actually on the driving line which have been evident for a considerable period of time. The A6 also has an extremely unlevel surface northbound which would suggest the road in subsiding.

As a motorist we pay a significant amount of money in VED, Fuel Duty and Vat on our insurance premiums in addition to VAT on insurance premiums.

We have to pay for a yearly MOT to ensure our vehicles are safe to use on the roads but the current state of the A6 is in some areas unsafe for use.

I would as a Bedford Bourgh Council tax payer appreciate some update on when the section of the A6 referred too will be repaired to allow vehicles to travel along it without substaining damage.

Your sincerely Mr John Gilmour 6 Peregrine Way Wixams MK42 6FD
