A6, near Chapel Road Junction, MK45 3RD

Reported via desktop in the Road Potholes category anonymously at 12:04, Mon 29 December 2025

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 432376.

Date: 18 December 2025 Time: Approximately 6:30pm Location: A6, Bedfordshire, at or near the Chapel End Road junction Direction of travel: Towards Bedford, heading north.

While driving home from work, my vehicle struck a series of substantial potholes within the running lane and adjacent to the centre line. The potholes are extensive, of significant depth, and positioned within the wheel track, making them unavoidable in normal driving conditions, especially in the dark.

Just from the sound alone when hitting the pothole, it was evident that the road was in considerable disrepair. I have since drove past in the day and can see the potholes which are large, dangerous and frequent. It looks as if there has been attempts to repair the road but to no success. I attempted to take photos but due to the location, it is too dangerous and busy to exit my vehicle to do so.

As a result of the collision, my front tyre was punctured and had to be replaced. I also now need to have my wheels aligned and my suspension inspected.

With multiple reports being made in the same location, it would seem there's been a failure of the Council's duty under section 41 of the Highways Act 1980.
