The tee junction of the A6 and Chapel End Road, Houghton Conquest.
Reported via desktop in the Signs category by Paul Smith at 14:49, Thursday 29 January 2026
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 434888.
There is an advertising sign for Greenway View Housing that is attached to the weight limit sign at this junction that, depending on the vehicle being driven, obstructs the drivers view of north bound A6 traffic when trying to exit the junction and join the A6. Logically it will also limit the view, by drivers heading North on the A6, of any vehicle that are trying to exit that junction. This is an accident blackspot and there are numerous incidents at that junction every year. It would not seem appropriate or sensible to reduce visibility and compromise public safety by allowing this kind of signage to be fixed on street furniture at this junction. I have spoken to the sales office, but they were not very helpful, although they did suggest that their signs would not be placed there without permission. It may be that the sign has been there for some time and has moved into or been moved into the unacceptable position. Can I request that this non essential visual obstruction is removed ASAP. Thank you
