Damaged road surfacr

Reported via Android in the Road Surface category by Julian Brunt at 17:04, Thursday

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 435606.

The increasingly deteriorated road surface along the stretch near the Tempsford junctions, adjacent to the A1. The condition of the carriageway has worsened significantly, with numerous potholes now presenting a clear hazard to road users.

These defects pose a substantial risk of vehicle damage—particularly tyre and suspension issues—and create unsafe driving conditions. Poor weather and reduced daylight hours make these hazards even more difficult to detect and avoid, increasing the likelihood of traffic incidents.

It is also worth noting that the volume of traffic using this route has risen considerably due to the ongoing roadworks at the Black Cat roundabout. This may be contributing to the accelerated breakdown of the road surface.

Given the safety implications, I kindly request that the council inspects this section of road and undertakes the necessary repairs as a matter of priority.
