Next to layby (bedford rd)-entrance to footpath to Vicarage road area
Reported via desktop in the Pavement and Cycle path category anonymously at 12:25, Friday 27 March 2026
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 439519.
For years this has been THE main "ratrun" for off road bikes and quadbikes, (quick route between Tithe Farm estate and Bidwell estate and the quarry) The danger (and noise) from speeding off roaders on the pavements accessing Bedford rd(30-46 and then into Vicarage rd) is a DAILY danger. This barrier needs a simple extension to one side (fill the gap) to halt this MENACE.(there used to be a bush in the gap but that got ripped out) Also mud get`s dragged onto pavement making it very slippy!

Update on your report:
After inspecting the reported issue, our officers have determined that this doesn't currently qualify as a priority for repair. We will continue to monitor the defect during future inspections and carry out works should it meet our intervention levels in future.
With over 1,400km of road to maintain across Central Bedfordshire, we have to prioritise the work we do as detailed in our Network Maintenance Management Plan (NMMP), which can be viewed on the following page of our website https://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ info/ 55/ transport_roads_and_parking/ 592/ roads_strategies
Many thanks,
