We have requested numerous times now for the council owned trees to cut back. They are over 45ft in height and we were told we can do it ourselves which is totally unacceptable and given the cost of a tree surgeon would be highly costly. One of the trees is now touching our roof and the roots are damaging our driveway. We are not saying they need to be fully removed but they need reducing in height significantly and cutting back. We have had large branches fall onto our driveway which would have caused serious damage to our cars had they been there at the time. We are also a risk should large branches fall when we are outside the front, My son has a baskeball net there and likes to play there. There are continuous problems with branches overhanging station road too which we and our neighbours on many occassions have had to cut down to prevent an accident with passing vehicles including the school bus. They are at such a height now that we can not cut them and would require specialist equipment. We have lived here 8 years and apart from the council cutting the odd branch nothing significant has been done. This will be significantly more costly to yourselves if someone gets injured, a car gets damaged or our house gets further damaged. As previously stated our driveway is already damaged from the roots.

  • Hi, we have still not heard from you so would it be quicker for me to contact our insurance company? The damage to our driveway would be covered by insurance and they can then liaise with you. Given one of the trees is touching our roof line I suspect they will cover that too and they can then claim the cost of the works back from yourselves for that too.
