Side of 1 Gasden Close Cranfield

Reported via mobile in the Obstructing visibility, footway, road, or sign category anonymously at 08:54, Tuesday 28 April 2026

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 12832.

I am writing to raise a concern regarding the hedge and trees at 1 Gasden Close, Cranfield, alongside Partridge Piece.

The area has become significantly overgrown and is now encroaching onto both the pavement and the road. This makes it difficult to walk safely along the footpath, as there is very limited space for pedestrians. In some places, it forces people to step into the road to pass, which presents a clear safety risk.

It is also becoming difficult to pass safely with a buggy, as the narrowed pavement and overgrowth make access awkward and potentially unsafe.

In addition, the trees have grown very tall and their branches are hanging over the road, creating a potential hazard for both pedestrians and passing vehicles.

There have also been sightings of rats in the area, which appear to be associated with the overgrown and unmanaged condition of the hedge.

I would kindly request that the overgrowth be cleared and that the trees be cut down to a sensible, manageable height. As there is a wall behind them, it would be appropriate for the trees to be reduced to that level, making them much easier to maintain going forward.

Furthermore, the general condition of the property is an eyesore. Each time you walk past, it appears untidy and poorly maintained, and the side of the house in particular would benefit from a general tidy-up and a fresh coat of paint on the render, as it currently looks dirty and detracts from the surrounding area.

I will attach photographs to show the hedge in question, as it is now starting to grow out into the road.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I would appreciate it if you could arrange for this to be inspected and addressed as soon as possible.
