Opposite 21 Leaside

Reported via Android in the Obstructing visibility, footway, road, or sign category by Cllr Tracey McMahon at 15:55, Wednesday 10 June 2026

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14723.

A resident has reported several times about a tree here on the strip of land opposite 21 Leaside which is so overgrown, not having had any maintenance in about 10 years or more. The tree drops branches, and touches property, but also is lifting the pavement and obscures the street light which is tangled in the canopy. Previous reports have not been rectified, and we need to find a way forward. If CBC cannot cut it back and fix the street light, then Enforcement action needs taking against the owner of the strip of land. Alternatively, an arrangement could be made to add the tree to the schedule of maintenance whilst adding it on to the definitive map.

Updates

  • This is still not rectified and residents report that the light is now completely covered, making it unsafe to use the pathway at night.
