Outside 428 Bideford Green

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 15297.

Pothole/Sink hole. Reported 11/02/26 ref 10498. During period of heavy rain had water coming up through road surface. Anglia Water investigated and confirmed NOT their system. Probably surface water that has enter utility duct (Gas/Telecomm) further up the hill. CBC response 'not the council's responsibility'. My understanding is that CBC is the Highways Authority and is therefore responsible for the upkeep and safety of the road. CBC may be able to back charge the utility company, if they did indeed cause the problem. But, CBC need to stop passing the buck and take corrective action now. It is not my responsibility to chase the utility companies for you.

  • Looks as though this was patched on the afternoon of Friday 10th July. Looks like a 'slapdash' repair with adjacent surface damage left untreated. Was the underlying cause determined and rectified?
