Reported via mobile in the Obstructing visibility, footway, road, or sign category anonymously at 12:59, Tuesday 23 June 2026

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 15301.

Dear Parish Council,

I am writing to raise a serious concern regarding an overgrown hedge at a property on 44 The Grove, Houghton Conquest (MK45 3JU), which is now significantly encroaching onto the public pavement.

The hedge extends so far across the footpath that pedestrians are frequently forced into the carriageway in order to pass. This presents a clear safety risk, particularly for children, elderly residents, wheelchair users, and those with pushchairs or mobility difficulties.

In addition, the hedge has created a blind corner near the junction, reducing visibility for both pedestrians and motorists and increasing the risk of an accident.

Several residents have politely requested that the homeowner cut the hedge back, however only minimal trimming has been carried out and the issue has continued to worsen. The obstruction has now reached a point where it is affecting the safe and convenient use of the pavement for the wider community.

I have also recently witnessed a resident using crutches struggling to pass safely. The restricted width of the pavement makes it particularly hazardous for anyone with reduced mobility and increases the likelihood of pedestrians stepping into the road.

I have attached photographs which clearly show the extent of the obstruction and the associated safety concerns.

Given the clear risk to public safety, I would be grateful if this matter could be investigated as a matter of urgency before an accident occurs. I trust this issue can be resolved promptly through the appropriate enforcement channels.

I would also appreciate it if my complaint could be treated confidentially, and that my identity is not disclosed to the property owner.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
