Corner of Bloomfield/,George Street

Dear Highways Team,

I am writing to raise a complaint regarding the condition of the road outside Robert Bloomfield Academy on George Street.

The road was resurfaced approximately a year ago using a tar and chip surface rather than a proper tarmac finish. Unfortunately, it appears this surface has failed prematurely and is already breaking up badly. As the attached photographs show, there are sections where the surface is lifting, crumbling and creating uneven patches across the carriageway.

This is a road that experiences a significant amount of traffic every day, particularly during school drop-off and pick-up times, so it is disappointing that it has deteriorated so quickly. A resurfacing scheme should last considerably longer than this, and it raises questions about whether the materials used were appropriate for such a heavily used road.

Residents pay substantial council tax and rightly expect repairs to be carried out to a standard that represents good value for money. In its current condition, the road is unsightly and will only continue to deteriorate if left unattended, leading to more costly repairs in the future.

I would appreciate it if this could be inspected as a matter of urgency and for the council to advise what action will be taken and when the road will be properly repaired.
